Reading

Our reading programme runs five days a week.  Your child will bring home a reading book four days a week, and their poem book on the fifth day.  It is important to set aside time each day to read with your child.  This is a time for your child to share with you, be successful and to enjoy reading.  If your child is reluctant to read then you could read a page each or read aloud to them.  Please use your child's green reading log to note each time you read together, it's a great tool to motivate your child, and contains lots of helpful hints.  Keep track of how many nights they have read, and they receive special stickers to celebrate 25, 50, 75 and 100 nights of reading.

Don't forget to read from the poem book also.  Poems are a great way for your child to develop their awareness of rhyme, phonics and spelling rules.
